Too many changes make my head spin and my blood pressure go through the roof!
Help us plan B-Day, a day for showing support for OUR Brenau! The plan: to get as many Brenau Girls, young and old, to come to May Day this year, to wear our cause ribbons, and to make a visual impact on the administration: we mean business.
-Contact your class mates, women in your area and offer to car pool! Older alums may not feel comfortable driving the distance to campus, offer them a ride! Tell them what’s happening and how important it is that we show up for alum events!
-If you have ideas on how to make this a successful event, comment on this post.
-I will be making cause ribbons like a mad woman! If you would like to help, comment on this post.
More to come as planning gets into a fever pitch. We can make ourselves heard, loud and clear! We are products of the Brenau Ideal and we will make our Alma Mater proud.

Brenau Girls, PLEASE write or email the president, eschrader@brenau.edu! Write to the Trustees!! Let them know you are unhappy with the direction the campus is taking! Even if it’s a one line email! Let them know how you feel! The louder we are as a group the quicker they will react!

An interesting question was asked of me at the Dr. Scharder Brunch: “What do you mean by ‘quality’?” Well, truthfully, I thought (and still do think) that everyone knows what a quality student is, one that makes a positive impact on the campus, on fellow students and/or in the classroom. It really has nothing to do with GPAs or SAT scores. It has nothing to do with how many organizations you were president of, nor where you come from. What matters is that you add something beautiful to your surroundings through your actions and ideas. And I don’t mean planting flowers. Do you try to help others? Do you try your hardest in your studies? Do you participate in activities on your campus? Do you try to speak kindly to others? Do you try to put forth an effort in whatever you undertake? Do you question things that don’t seem right? Do you try to leave your campus a little better than it was when you got there? Do you reach out to those who need a friendly shoulder? Any one of these things and so many others can make you a “quality” student.
So, my definition of the “quality” Brenau Women is an individual who makes an effort to be a positive contributing member in the Brenau Community.
What’s your idea of a “quality” student?

I understand that everyone has deeply rooted feelings on Greek Life. But that is a wholly different conversation. We are trying to focus in on preserving the uniqueness of Brenau, specifically the campus, the family atmosphere, and the quality of student admitted.
Comments that are ungracious, unnecessary, or unkind will not make it to the forum so I would encourage you not to waste your time or mine. This fight is not about Greeks or Independents, it is about the ENTIRE Brenau Family. This fight is for keeping Brenau a place where anyone who is willing to be a positive member of the community is welcome and those would be a detriment to the core values are not encouraged to apply. This fight is about maintaining the traditions and campus structures that having very personal meanings for students. This fight is about Brenau as she should be.
So, in short, give me your ideas to lift up Brenau to her highest possible level of success while maintaining those things which we hold so dear!

I have posted a link to the right: What Started it All. This is a .doc that has all the letters and emails that sparked the need for a discussion forum like this.
I will be scanning the documents that Ed mentions in his letters and they will be up by Tuesday afternoon.
Ed has asked to meet with me to discuss my concerns. He has finally agreed to a brunch meeting on a Saturday this summer so I can get maxim participation. If you are interested in joining let me know your availability and we can hammer something out.
There are some fun things in the planning stages to get the word out that Brenau is changing, and not for the better! Your ideas are welcome, we can always use more! Please keep in mind that we don’t want to create an uncomfortable or overly boisterous (i.e. burning our bras on the front lawn…) scene. Our actions must reflect our desire to keep dignity, education of good women, and tradition at the forefront. We want to remember the Brenau Ideal as it was originally intended and honor that intention. As a group, we want to keep Brenau’s unique culture intact and stand up for what we think is right, with poise and intelligent actions.
In the meantime, please post your own experiences, questions, concerns in reference to the changes at Brenau. They should be fresh on our minds from May Day.

Well. Here we go. It’s a brave new world out there, we are all Brenau Graduates (or friends, or past students…). If you have any experience with web design, or you just want to make things pretty, please shoot me an email: annae@brenauthewayitshouldbe.com and help me create and maintain the club house. I’m still working on uploading the supporting documents I mentioned… I’ll get there. Hopefully.
